Water levels in this section of the Catawba River are influenced by scheduled releases from the Lake Wylie Dam. Recreational releases typically occur Friday through Sunday from April to September. You can view the release schedule here. Upon arrival we will inspect the water level to make sure it is safe to float and provide any information pertaining to the route conditions. While water level determines the usual float times, wind and group size can affect these conditions and times.
Safety always comes first—never risk your well-being trying to retrieve a float. We’ll always do our best to help you recover items safely, but please prioritize yourself over the gear. We understand accidents happen and will never be upset for you choosing your life over a lost float.
We will make sure to meet you and your group at the loading zone at The Pump House at your scheduled time. We will then drive you to the launch point and help get you in the water. At the end of your trip, you can put the tubes aside and head to your vehicles.
There are no restrooms at the Catawba River Dam, but there are public restrooms available near The Pump House.
For the river tubing in groups of 13 or more, we will need to make 2 or more trips with our passanger van to drop everyone back off at the Catawba Dam. We have limited seating, and are unable to carry all tubers (over 12 people) at once. We will transport all the gear on our vehicle to the launch point and at the final point.
